St. Patrick's Day moved to September by the Milwaukee club.

I have always been a big fan of St. Patrick's Day. It is usually a fun holiday with parades and parties. When I was younger, things would get a little crazy. I have experienced it in many different cities through the years including the infamous Chicago celebration.

Rockford is a good place to celebrate. In fact, it has been rated nationally. I would put it up against anywhere across the country. You have the parade followed by the big party held by the Irish Marching Society.

I will never forget St. Patrick's Day in 2020. Rockford's festivities are held the Saturday before. That way people can let loose and not have to worry about hanging out on a school night.

I was supposed to host the parade and party. The closer the event came, more and more events were being canceled or postponed. Before that Saturday, we joined the list. Some hoped it would happen later down the line. Unfortunately, it was never able to happen. By the time the actual St. Patrick's Day rolled around, which was a Tuesday, the whole country was on lockdown.

The same consequences for the rest of the parties, celebrations, festivities, holidays, and more. Everything scheduled for 2020 came to a halt. As we crossed into 2021, we were all hopeful that some things will slowly return to normal. So far, no such luck but I have not given up.

Here is one 2020 event that has already been postponed. The good thing is that it has not been completely canceled yet. It reminds me of that line in the movie, Dumb and Dumber, "So, you're saying there's a chance."

According to tmj4.com,

"The Shamrock Club of Wisconsin and Westown Association have decided to postpone the 54th Shamrock Club of Wisconsin St. Patrick's Day Parade. The parade was scheduled for March 13 but is now planned for Sep. 25 with hopes the later date will be safer for the public with such a large-scale event."

I will keep my fingers crossed because the Rockford events could have the same fate.
