Near St. Louis on the Mississippi River, a fisherman hooked a huge catfish.

When I was a kid, I liked to go fishing in the summer. There was a pond across the street from where I grew up. I think the biggest fish I caught was a carp that weight a couple of pounds.

I peaked early because after that, I never really hooked anything again. I was on a fishing trip on Lake Michigan and was the only one to not catch anything.

I've heard stories of big catfish in the Rock River. Someone told me several years ago that there were some as big as telephone poles by the damn. I don't think I believe that one. In fact, I've never seen a big catfish, let alone a huge one like that. Well, until now.

According to mystateline.com,

"A Missouri man landed a near-record catfish while fishing in the muddy waters of the Mississippi River in St. Louis last week. The catfish weighed in at 112 pounds, 18 pounds shy of the state record."

Yep, that's a big one.
