What's wrong with this photo?

Do you see the problem? If the answer doesn't jump out at you, take a few more seconds to look a little closer.  Which side of the sidewalk is the woman walking on?

According to chapter five from Emily Post, dating back to 19922,  men are supposed to walk on the curbside when walking with their lady down the street.  The reasoning goes all the way back to the era of horse-drawn carriages, when men walked on the closest side of the street to protect their woman from being splashed with mud.

For as long as I can remember, and I can't confirm where I learned or heard it from, but it's always been that way. Just like when you're having dinner at a restaurant, the guy is always supposed to be sitting in the chair that faces the door so he can see potentially dangerous situations that might enter through the doors.

So, what do you think? Is this man being unchivalrous or is this a dated approach for dictating proper etiquette for this scenario?
