Three Changes Possibly Coming to Illinois AMC Theaters
The world's largest theater chain will undergo a massive facelift.
You immediately think of new screens and seats when you hear that the National Association of Theater Owners will invest $2.2 billion in a significant chain of theater owners, including AMC, Regal, Cinemark, Marcus Theatres, and others.
While some money is going toward improving the overall quality of movie-going expenses, that's not all.
That's because, according to Gizmodo, these major movie chains are adding content in an "effort to win over more families."
The "content" in question is a zipline, a bowling alleys, and a pickleball court. One or a combination of all three could end up at our beloved Showplace 16 in Rockford.
As a long-time moviegoer, I'm almost offended that theater chains feel the need to offer something other than decent flicks (or decent costs per ticket) just to get us to go to the movies..
For the life of me, I have never once felt the need to play pickleball and then immediately compelled to watch a movie. I've never been ziplining, but I can't imagine the exhilaration of that stunt could get any more dulled down by sitting in a dark room for two hours.

So, AMC or anyone else willing to listen, show good movies at a price point that won't turn families away, and then you'll "win over more families" on a daily basis.
