North America’s Largest Adventure Park Is Coming To Illinois
According to Forbes, the park in Lemont, Illinois will feature 300 acres of free-standing towers for patrons to climb and navigate.
The Forge: Lemont Quarries Adventure Park will be opening just around the corner on May 25th. The park is a unique private and public collaboration between The Forge, the Village of Lemont and Township of Lemont in hopes that the park will draw in the neighborhood of 1 million visitors to Lemont annually.
The park, which will be a year-round playground for both kids and adults of any and all abilities (including those with limited abilities), will be the largest aerial adventure course in North America and certainly the largest of its kind near a major metropolitan area in the U.S.
Spread across 300 acres, The Forge’s aerial adventure course will be the park’s main attraction and will feature three free-standing towers, including a 12-story tower designed to look like the iconic Sears Tower splitting apart, and will provide more than 260 elements for Forge-goers to climb and navigate.
Additional attractions include the tallest zipline on the continent standing at more than 120 feet, the area’s only outdoor mountain biking skills track and pump track, built in collaboration with the International Mountain Bicycling Association, an X-wall climbing wall, plenty of flatwater activities including kayaking, canoeing and paddle boating, a dedicated Kid’s Zone with a fully-netted children’s playground, five miles of running, biking and walking trails, and there will be a restaurant, beer garden and amphitheater on the grounds as well. Concerts, film series and kid’s camps will all be a part of the park’s programming.
