For two days, once a year, Q98.5 gets to lend our voices to the fight against childhood cancer at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. It is something we live for all year long, and I could literally spend an entire week talking about all the amazing things St. Jude does not only for the patients and families they treat but for the entire world when it comes to medical advancements.

One of the things I love most about St. Jude is the way it inspires people. The way a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee moves people and changes lives all over the world. People give to St. Jude in so many different ways, for so many different reasons, but today I discovered one Stateline-area family's EGGcellent way to support St. Jude.

Please meet Chris, Charlene, Olivia, and Milan Murdakes of School House Eggs in Pecatonica.

My mother-in-law alerted me to this amazing family and what they do for St. Jude, and I immediately needed to know more. I sent School House Eggs a message asking what inspired them to start donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and they said;

Our family believes in community participation and with the success of our farm we made the decision to take part of our profits and donate them to charities that are important to us. We wanted input from our children since they are part of our farm and business. We feel strongly about supporting local charities but also about supporting those charities in healthcare. St. Jude has always been a leader in medical research for childhood diseases. We feel that St. Jude allows children to have an opportunity to life that they may not have otherwise.

So how do School House Eggs support St. Jude kids exactly? By choosing times throughout the year where they donate $1 from every dozen of their free-range cage-free brown chicken eggs they sell to charities like St. Jude. Not only do they donate $1 from each sale, but they match it as well!
