Eating Meals In My House Growing Up

People will ask me, what was it like in your house growing up when it came to meals? Did I have a favorite thing that my mother cooked for me?

My mom will be the first to admit that she was not a good cook. Our meals were pretty simple. There were only three of us so not a lot of food was needed. My dad was actually a really good cook but unfortunately, he did not have the chance to do it very often.

I was also a very picky eater so I did not require any fancy meals. Just keep it simple and I was pretty happy.

One of my favorite meal memories as a kid is sometimes my mom had to work on the weekend, so my dad would get up and make me breakfast. It was always pancakes, which were my favorite. I could eat them day and night.

Restaurant Pancakes Were The Best

If I was lucky to go out to eat for breakfast, I knew one thing for sure. That I would be ordering pancakes. Nothing against my dad's pancakes but something was different about having them at a restaurant.

At a restaurant, there seemed to be different styles of pancakes that I really enjoyed like silver dollar, chocolate chip, and Micky Mouse to just name a couple. I would request them at home but my dad just could not pull it off.
