One of Illinois’ Largest Community Health Centers Now in Rockford

Earlier this year I told you about a new federally qualified health center coming to Rockford by the name of Aunt Martha's. They are now open.

Aunt Martha's is partnering with Swedish American Health System. The clinic opened this week and occupies 4,500 square feet on the 3rd floor of the hospital. They are currently offering primary care services. Aunt Martha's provides healthcare to patients regardless of their insurance or ability to pay. It is directed towards patients who are underdeserved and underinsured according to CEO Michael Born. However, anyone is welcome. They even have family case managers on site to help patients get hooked up with insurance services or Medicaid.

As of right now the clinic will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday; and from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of each month. Additional services that will be available soon include OB/GYN and mental health services that will include behavioral therapists and telepsych services (aka counseling sessions via Skype). These services will begin in November. The public is invited to attend an open house on Friday, August 18 at 11 AM. A short program, ribbon cutting and light refreshments will be provided. Don't miss it.

This is an awesome alternative to a walk-in clinic or the ER. Especially if you need something simple like a strep test or influenza swab. And since it's brand new, many people don't even know about it yet so you can get right in. Do your kids need back to school physicals? Well here ya go. There's no wait. Need a refill on your birth control but can't get into your OB for a few months? They offer PAP smears and family planning services as well. This is a great new addition to health care services in Rockford.
