One of the dumbest things a tourist has ever done happened in Illinois and I wonder if these folks ever got caught.

Far & Wide’s list called this the 27th “dumbest:”

Starved Rock State Park in Oglesby, Illinois, is home to stone formations that are a sacred place of gathering for indigenous tribes. So when a photo surfaced of two visitors drawing their initials on a 400-million-year-old formation, the rage was real.

Sadly, this isn't the first instance of jerky tourists defacing landmarks. And it won't be the last.

The story got big making it more of a national news piece.

Newsweek:

Pictures posted on social media show a man and a woman standing in front of the Council Overhang cavern in Starved Rock Park over the Labor Day holiday. The pair are stood next to a black "B+K" in a love heart which has been scrawled onto the ancient rocks.

After getting the national attention a story like this deserved, the social media account, GotYour6Comm reported:

The female suspect has been identified and police are currently attempting to ID the male.

That was just a few days after the story broke, and since then I haven’t heard anything. I kind of wonder if the guy was found and if they were arrested, fined, or both.

The website trendzified recently ran an article in late November of 2023 asking for this couple’s whereabouts but other than that, nothing.
