If you're looking for a really cool restaurant to try in Illinois, I think I found the perfect place for you.

If there's one thing about me, I love trying new restaurants.  I'm probably the best person to go out to eat with because I'm not picky, not allergic to any foods, and am willing to try anything if someone else is paying for it.  Damn right!

One way to win me over is taking me on a sushi date.  Yes, food is always the answer.  The person I've been dating surprised me with a small road trip to a revolving sushi bar about an hour and a half out of town.  Let me just say... it was awesome.

If you have never been to a revolving sushi bar, you're missing out!  From the atmosphere, to the robotic servers, and sushi belt that delivers your food, it's a very inviting, relaxed environment for everyone of all ages.

One Of Illinois' Coolest Restaurants Has A Robot As Your Server

Kura's was one of the first sushi bars I knew existed, so I've been really eager to try it.  It's more for the atmosphere and experience than the food in my opinion!

"Kura Sushi USA is a technology-enabled Japanese restaurant concept that offers guests a distinctive dining experience built on authentic Japanese cuisine and an engaging revolving sushi service model."

This is what the conveyor belt looks like.  Food comes around and you can pick what you want or browse the menu to have specific dishes delivered to your table.

There's a cool screen you can order off of that has all sorts of foods to pick from; sushi, noodles, rice, desserts, and even merchandise!

I really wanted to buy a lanyard because it chutes out from a machine right to your table, but I made a promise to myself I wouldn't "impulse" buy that night haha.

I ordered a few different sushi rolls and they were fine, we devoured all of it within seconds and just kept continuing to order more sushi.  It was his first time using chopsticks so that was fun to experience with someone, too!

After you're finished with your plate, you slide it down a chute where it goes to the kitchen to get cleaned so there's minimal clean-up by you or the human servers.  Efficient idea, honestly.

One of the coolest (and kinda scary) features at Kura's was the robot that delivered your drinks to your table.  You order on the screen, wait a few minutes, and then you hear music playing really loudly from a robot that comes around with the drinks you ordered.

It stops at your table, waits for you to get your drinks, and sings while it makes its rounds to every table.  Is this what our future is now - AI AND ROBOTS?!

This isn't your typical sit-down restaurant where people are waiting on you and tending to your table every few minutes.  You take your time, decide what you want at your own pace, and enjoy your experience.  This location was in Schaumburg, but you can find more locations closer to home!

Not only was I excited to try Kura's, but there's a new boba shop that opened in Rockford that I've been dying to try; Kung Fu TeaCulture Crunch is also opening soon near Valli Produce so that's another shop I gotta hit up.
