Forbes just released its annual list of the wealthiest people in America, and Illinois's winner is a repeat of last year's.

This billionaire continues to accrue significant wealth and will probably sit at the top for quite some time.


This year's richest man in Illinois is Lukas Walton, the grandson of Walmart founder Sam Walton, who is worth nearly $28 billion.

Anyway, Ken Griffin was the former richest man in Illinois. Griffin decided to move to Florida and thought it was cool to be number two.

Back to Walton and his monster wad of cash, NBC 5 says he invests in various environmental initiatives and serves on the board of directors for the Walton Family Foundation.

The Chicago TV news site says Walton's net worth jumped 32% in just one year from $21.2 billion to $28 billion.
