We talk a lot about how bad Rockford drivers are, especially when it comes to roundabouts.  Roundabouts seem to send people into a frenzy and they forget how to drive.  But can we shift the spotlight for a second?  Because there's a much bigger issue we need to address.

People who have absolutely no idea whether they're on a one-way street or not.

I never thought I'd see the day that I'd conquer one-ways in downtown Rockford.  Honestly, I better have by now considering I've been living downtown for seven years.  You learn quickly, or at least you should.  But somehow, there are still a shocking number of drivers who just wing it and hope for the best.

And that's where it gets a little scary.

Because with roundabouts, at least you can kind of anticipate confusion.  But with one-way streets?  You're trusting that everyone else knows what they're doing, and clearly, that's not always the case.

My dashcam caught the most "Rockford" moment of the weekend at the intersection of East State and Madison Street.  I'm driving like normal, light turns green, and I'm ready to go south on Madison... except I can't.  Because there's a driver sitting directly in my lane.  It's not a one-way, from either direction.

The wild part?  They weren't backing up.  They just sat there... waiting for ME to go.  At that point, I started questioning whether I was on the wrong side of the road.  Like, we're all confused.  Watch the video my dashcam caught below... tell me I'm not going crazy.
