The Winnebago County Coroner's Office has identified the motorcyclist who died following a crash Saturday evening in Rockford.

According to officials, the crash happened around 6:15pm on May 16th near the intersection of Auburn Street and Harlem Boulevard.  Rockford Police responded to the area after reports of a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck.  The area was shut down for several hours.

25-year-old Angus Maceachron was riding the motorcycle when it collided with the pickup truck.  Emergency crews arrived quickly and treat him at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital for additional medical care.

Despite lifesaving efforts, he later died from his injuries at the hospital.

The Winnebago County Coroner's Office confirmed that the autopsy revealed Maceachron's cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head resulting from the crash.  The incident remains under investigation by local authorities as they continue working to determine exactly what led to the collision.
