Rockton Illinois Grad Wins Wrestling World Championship in Serbia
Hononegah graduate Tony Cassioppi used to roam the high school hallways tipping the scales at 300+. Now about to be a junior at Iowa, Tony is a cut and powerful 275lbs and winner of a world championship. The comment section of the video posted below, is nothing but "holy crap Tony looks great."
This dude looks so much different then he did during the NCAA season - Aidan Pierobon
He looks like a different person. He'll probably look stacked next year. - Billy Balentine
Cassioppi has transformed himself into "The Incredible Hulk." Instead of spending afternoons munching out at Krispy Kreme, he now spends them in the gym, pumping iron. - L. Ron Gardner
Tony secured his biggest wrestling accomplishment to date this past weekend in Serbia. He will bring home the gold medal, winning the "U23 Men’s Freestyle World Championships" in the 125KG division. Congrats, big guy! He will never tell you that these matches were easy, but look at the results...
In his four matches in Serbia, Tony pinned his first opponent. Beat Paris Karepi of Albania 7-0. In his third match, won 5-0 vs, Russia’s Saipudin Magomedov. Then in the championship match he pinned Azamat Khosonov of Greece in period number one. Talk about kicking butt and taking names...really long names!
In this 5-0 win, Tony is pretty much in control the entire time.
Here is the 125kg Semifinal match - Tony Cassioppi, (USA) vs Saipudin Akhmedovitch Magomedov (RUS)
Great to see Tony in such great shape physically. Hopefully this world championship takes him to new heights when he starts his junior year at Iowa. Tony finished 3rd overall in the 275lbs weight class last year at Iowa. MYSTATELINE
