Have you ever had a food experience that changed your life? I've died and gone to meatball sub heaven hearing the original Sandwich Factory and the family that ran it on Kishwaukee and College are bringing it back.

My Short Delicious History with The Sandwich Factory

If these words below that were shared in the Facebook group, What's Happening in Rockford, IL, are true, I can finally have a meatball sub again.

I had never had one before moving to Rockford in 1995. During my first week in town, a co-worker told me to order a meatball sub. She said that nobody in town made a better one than the Sandwich Factory on Kishwaukee and College.

She was right! I wish cell phones with cameras were around at that time because you just wouldn't believe how big it was. I have never had another one since, and I'm thrilled I may get to have another one SOON!

Below is the good news I saw about the return of the Sandwich Factory in Rockford.

Who remembers the original Sandwich Factory ran by the Ballard Family on Kishwaukee and College?

We have some exciting news!

After running one of the best, local food spots since 75’ our family sold the building for personal reasons and decided to close doors a few years back. Just to make everyone aware we never had any relation to “Ali’s” version of the restaurant and adding his name was just a way to keep ours.

In better news, the great-grandchildren of Evelyn Ballard are bringing The Sandwich Factory back with all the original recipes along with everything else that made it the Rockford staple it once was.

Note to add: We will have a food truck running while a primary location will be under construction. We will continue to make updates to this page with more information. We’re so glad you’re all as excited as we are!
