Say Farewell To Summer: Dairy Depot In Love Park Closes Soon

Time is running out if you want to get in line at Dairy Depot in Love Park. They're closing up for the season this Sunday, September 15.

Every day can be ice cream day if you try hard enough. But not every day can be a Dairy Depot day, unfortunately, they aren't open every day of the year.

I didn't really grow up with a lot of great small businesses. Schaumburg is more of a commercial/big business spot (I'm sure you've heard of Woodfield Mall...), so our ice cream shops were pretty limited to Dairy Queen and Baskin Robbins.

Not that we didn't love to visit them, but it's just not the same.

On one hand, those Schaumburg DQ and 31 Flavor locations were open all year round, but there was nothing all that special about visiting them.

Here in the Rockford area, that's just not the case. There are so many local ice cream shops and many of them close up for the colder season, which honestly makes it more exciting to visit them when the weather is warmer.

This is the bummer time of year though, the time when those shops close for the season and leave us wishing we could hold on to summer for just a little longer.

One of those locations is Dairy Depot in Loves Park.

They just announced that this Sunday, September 15 would be their last day for the 2024 ice cream season.
