Store Closings

The announcement that came from Deerfield, Illinois was certainly not what many Walgreens employees wanted to hear.

There's news from a major hardware store chain that has 38 Illinois locations that could be bad news and good news at the same time.

Not good news on the business front for convenience chain 7-Eleven. In an earnings call, it was revealed that they will be closing 444 stores forever. The question is how many locations in Illinois will be affected.

Walmart has announced that very soon they will be closing all of their locations in Missouri and Illinois on the same day so you'll need to plan accordingly.

When Big Lots announced hundreds of store closings a month ago, some thought that might be the complete list. It's not and now there are suddenly 3 additional Illinois locations that will soon be closing their doors forever.

It's been a challenging year for Big Lots after they've closed hundreds of stores and it doesn't appear they're done yet. Today, it was revealed that they are shuttering 50 more stores permanently and that includes a major one in Illinois.

I keep hoping that somehow we'll see a turn for the better for brick and mortar retail stores. Unfortunately, that rebound has yet to happen for stores like Best Buy who has already closed 24 stores including at least 1 in Missouri and reports say that up to 15 more will follow.

After years of lawsuits and a complete rebranding, a major flooring brand has announced plans to liquidate which will result in the closing of 15 Illinois locations.

This has been one of the most difficult years in recent memory (2020 not withstanding) for food establishments. Hooters is no exception as they have suddenly shut the doors on numerous locations across America including 3 in Missouri and 1 in Illinois.
