Risa Tyler nominated Angela, she writes,

This past week Pecatonica Elementary first grade class performed their holiday program. Miss Willa, a first grader in Ms Hoffman's class, had spent the majority of the past eight weeks diligently practicing her Christmas songs at home - her favorite was a theatrical rendition of Grandma got run over by a Reindeer. She also spent a great deal of time methodically picking out the *perfect * outfit for her concert - a green sparkly dress, black faux fur jacket, and black bow. Unfortunately, the day before the concert, Willa was diagnosed with strep throat…which meant she wouldn’t be able to attend school the following day as she waited for her antibiotics to kick in. Willa was completely crushed and so were mom and dad.

Ms Hoffman knows her students well and as soon as she found out Willa couldn’t perform she started brainstorming with her wonderful co-worker and first-grade class para Ms Erin Ford to figure out Willa could still be included in some way. Ms Hoffman reached out to me to see if Willa would be interested in face timing for the concert. Willa was THRILLED at the idea!! The concert time came and the phone rang and there were Ms Hoffman and Ms. Ford ready to tell Willa how beautiful she looked in her outfit and share in the concert experience with her. While Willa was still sad she didn’t get to perform with her friends this incredible act of kindness lifted her spirits and made her feel important. After the concert, Ms Hoffman and Ms Ford even gifted Willa a carnation in honor of her FaceTime performance and audience.

That night after pajamas were on, antibiotics were taken, and we worked through processing the emotions of the day; the last thing Willa said to me before falling asleep was “I’m so glad I got to see my concert and Ms Hoffman today. She’s so very kind” The imprints teachers leave on these impressionable, sweet kiddos cannot be overstated. We are so thankful for Ms Hoffman each and every day! Please consider her for teacher of the week.

Angela's vibe is exactly what our lives need more of, during our phone conversation (which you can listen to below) you can feel the goodness in her soul. What a blessing she is to families at Pecatonica Elementary.
