It's no secret this school year is unlike any other. And that goes for every single person involved in a school day. From the parents and students, to the teachers, to bus drivers, paras, and anyone else working day after day to make a school operate the best it can in 2020.

So to hear the words "I feel like things are normal and I feel happy in her classroom" in a nomination letter for Teacher of The Week this year is so special.

Congratulations to Mrs. Townsend from Harlem Middle School! Mrs. Townsend was nominated by a student in her seventh grade class Megan Christensen and the letter reads -

I’m in the 7th grade and new to Middle School and have never felt this way before about a teacher. She has many students and she has a way to teach that makes each one of us seem special and important. She is always there for us. She does a great job at teaching online and in person. She also makes us all laugh during class and online. With all the crazy things going on in the world I feel like things are normal and I feel happy in her classroom. I look forward to this class every single day.

I think those are words every teacher is striving to hear right now. That they're helping their kids feel as normal and happy as possible. It's not easy, but if anyone can do it, it's teachers.

Mrs. Townsend got a delivery of a beautiful floral arrangement from Broadway Florist and a delicious cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Congratulations again Mrs. Townsend!
