The Best Spot for a Bowl of Soup in Illinois Announced
It's cold, it's time for a bowl of soup.
You know, come to think, soup is a highly underrated and most often disregarded food that some people never consider an actual meal.
That is unless you're Jerry Seinfeld.
Sorry about that. Now if you're not Seinfeld, soup is often looked at as one of the options between either that or salad. I'm a 50-50 guy. Depending on my mood and time of year I can go with either the soup or salad.
It would probably be 100% of the time soup if I tried the Ohn-No-Kauk-Swe from Pa Lian, a Burmese restaurant in Wheaton.
That's because Ohn-No-Kauk-Swe, a Coconut Chicken Noodle Soup, was just called the best in all of Illinois.
Yelp listed the Ohn-No-Kauk-Swe at Pa Lian as one of the 50 best soups in America on their 50 Bowls of Bliss article that came out earlier this month.
The food review website doesn't explain why the Ohn-No-Kauk-Swe is the best in Illinois but Mirella K.agrees calling the Ohn-No-Kauk-Swe "My favorite item which is almost like ramen except with a creamier broth."
Amara H. says the Ohn-No-Kauk-Swe is "the dish that is the quintessential representation of the cuisine."
I can't believe I'm going to say this but I think trying this soup might be worth the drive.
Pa Lian and their incredibly delicious-sounding Ohn-No-Kauk-Swe are located at 254 East Geneva Road in Wheaton.
Can you call a bowl of the Ohn-No-Kauk-Swe a meal? Try the soup and tell us what you think.
