Mashed dropped the bad news on everyone's favorite redhead, Wendy's, because they called it the most overpriced fast food joint in America.

HOW MANY WENDY'S IN ILLINOIS?

With over 200 Wendy's locations in Illinois, slinging Frosty's right and left, this news will surely hit harder than a Triple Baconator would your arteries.

Before you grab your chili sporks to protest at Mashed HQ, they might actually have a point.

I mean, Wendy's has been overcharging since the 1970s.

According to Mashed, "From the 1970s to the 2010s, Wendy's burgers have consistently cost more than their biggest competitors, McDonald's and Burger King."

WHY WE WILLINGLY OVERPAY FOR WENDY'S

Despite the overpriced burgers and somewhat questionable customer service (looking at you, East State Street Wendy's location in Rockford), people have been willing to shell out the extra dough for an order of fries and a chocolate Frosty.

Should we continue to do so? That's the biggest question. The answer is probably "yes."

There's something about the food at Wendy's that makes the extra few bucks just a little more tolerable.

Maybe the square patties, Dave Thomas, the Wendy's logo, or their hilarious Twitter (sorry, "X") account does it for me.

Since you, Wendy's, will not apologize for overcharging us, we'll take a "my bad" and some free food, OK?

Even if you don't and choose to ignore the ghastly prices, bring some more cash because you'll need it at Wendy's, and truthfully, we'll likely be OK with it.
