The Sarcastic Reasons it’s Awesome to be a Server

I am a firm believer that everyone should work in the service industry at some point in their life. Even if it's only one summer filled with making milkshakes at an ice cream shop, and Buzzfeed agrees.

Everybody should work at least a month in a restaurant before they’re allowed to eat in one.

That's the lead sentence in their The 25 Most Awesome Things About Being A Server. Even though I think everyone should do it, it doesn't mean it's actually awesome.

My favorite is # 17, you eat, what can only be described as kitchen scraps, standing up. I would add, "and you're so starving from running from table to table for 8 hours, that it's the best five minutes of your day. Until you get in trouble for not being out on the restaurant floor."

Spoiler Alert: it actually is awesome to be a server, when the night is over. Martinis might be a little cheaper and a little stronger when the restaurant is closed.
