There’s Going to be a ‘Mallrats’ Sequel

Yassss. The cult classic, Mallrats, is getting a sequel. There's just one problem.

It's not being filmed in Minnesota? Wait, what? Being from Minnesota, I'm sure you can understand how disappointed I am by this. The Eden Prairie Center, where the first movie was filmed, was my hangout; I practically grew up in that mall. Weekends were spent at Picadally Circus, I'd visit my grandma when she worked for Brauns and I spent countless hours hiding in clothing racks while my mom shopped at the County Seat. Heck, I even got a job there; shortly after they made the movie. But, the Eden Prairie Center had tough competition once the Mall of America was built about 13 miles down the road and it got a major face lift; making it an undesirable location to shoot the new movie. It just wouldn't be the same.

Writer-Director, Kevin Smith, just announced that the sequel, Mallbrats, will be filmed in Exton, Pennsylvania at the Exton Square Mall; and Jason Lee, Shannen Doherty, Jeremy London, Jason Mewes, and Stan Lee are all on board to reprise the roles. What about Ben Affleck? Still no word on if he'll be joining, but the movie wouldn't be the same without him.

According to Smith, production will begin in January.
