A trip to Great America in Gurnee is usually a good time, but sometimes you want to slow it up and scale it down once in awhile.

Sometimes you don't want to wait in line for an hour to get on a ride, or have to worry about if you'll be able to afford dinner the week after you take your family to Great America.

Sometimes you want to slow it down a little bit, learn to enjoy yourself without the entertainment being force fed down your throat.

That's when you want to visit the tiny amusement park Little Americka.

This amusement park located in Marshall, Wisconsin, about 30 minutes from Madison in southern Wisconsin, is tiny in stature but large on fun.

It's almost impossible to describe the place without using the phrase "harkens back to a simpler time" but that's what this tiny amusement park inspires. Simple amusements that are fun because of their simplicity and earnestness. It's something that your kids might find novel.

Here are some of the attractions you can find at Little Amerikka:

Little Fire Trucks:

I don't have kids but I'm pretty sure they still like fire trucks. Let them take these for a spin.

This is like the Dumbo ride at Disneyland but somehow more and less safe at the same time. I hope there isn't a weight limit because I would like to give this one a whirl.

Little Boats

No lifejacket required on this ride. Wisconsin is apparently a little lax on those laws. Your kids will love feeling like they're breaking the rules.

The Meteor Roller Coaster

It's not all just for kids. There are some cool adult rides like this old wooden roller coaster.

And It's Affordable

Probably the best part about Little Amerikka is the price. It's 100% free to enter the park. The only thing you will pay for are the rides. Rides only cost 1,2, or 3 tickets at a dollar a ticket, or you can buy an unlimited wristband for about 20-25 bucks depending on your height.

Pack up the family one of these summer weekends and head north to Marshall, Wisconsin. You'll have a tiny-sized great time.
