It's days like these that make me thankful Twitter was invented.

People have taken to #NationalHotDogDay in a hilariously unexpected way.

Photos, videos, Vines and gifs have flooded the popular social media space all day.

So what is National Hot Dog Day, officially? According to Days Of The Year, it's a "day for parades, events, and hotdogs in abundance. Celebrated all over the world, Hot Dog Day is an opportunity to raise money for charities whilst combining large quantities of sausages, bread, ketchup, mustard and onions."

So it's for a good cause and people tweeting about it makes me laugh? I almost wish National Hot Dog Day was everyday.
