Unique Outdoor Adventure To Hike & Ski By Candlelight In Illinois
Hike and ski by candlelight in Illinois for this unique outdoor adventure.
Spending Time On Our Phones Instead Of Enjoying Life
Do you realize how lucky we are in Illinois because we get to experience all four seasons? You might not love them all but it is still special to have them. I think sometimes when we have nice weather in the summer, we take it for granted and do not take advantage of it. We will stay in the air conditioning with our faces on our little screens.
We Are Lucky To Have All Four Seasons
Actually, I do not think we take advantage of the fact that we have all four seasons. There are so many great things we can experience in the outdoors at any time of the year. The best part is there are very unique activities that you can only do during certain months. For example, right now you can enjoy things like skiing, sledding, and skating to just name a couple. You can not do them during the summer.
Nothing Beats A Good Walk Outside
One of my favorite things to do after I get off of work for the day is to take a stroll outside. I have tried mall walking and on a treadmill but it just is not the same. You do not get the fresh air or atmosphere of the outdoors. I just throw on my headphones, crank the tunes, and go. The perfect location is a state park or forest preserve. Unfortunately, that is a daytime-only event. Especially, in the winter. Well, until now.
Hike, Skiing, And Snowshoeing In The Winter
The snow adds something special to an outdoor hike. It might be the cabin fever that sets in when the weather gets nasty. Cross country skiing is a cool winter sport you can add to the rotation. I have done it a few times and it was a blast. I really hope to try snowshoeing for the very first time this summer. Would it not be cool to do any of those activities at night in the woods?
Hike And Ski At Night At This Illinois Forest Preserve
The McHenry County Conservation District is giving the unique opportunity to go on a nature hike, cross country skiing, or snowshoeing at night with your path only lit by candlelight. That sounds amazing to me. I remember downhill skiing at night and loving it. I think this will have the same feeling.
It is this weekend, Friday, January 14th, and Saturday, January 15th from 5 pm to 9 pm at Harrison Benwell Conservation Area in Wonder Lake, Illinois. If you can not make it then but are still interested, there is another opportunity on February 11th and 12th. For more info, HERE.
