Just a couple of days ago, one of Rockford's most beloved stores announced a huge expansion.

Mary Gulbrantson, the owner of Urban Farmgirl, said on Facebook:

Urban Farmgirl is expanding...I bought a farm! But not just any farm, it's the farm where I grew up.

Gulbrantson goes on to say Urban FarmGirl is renovating the entire property and "opening my family farm up to all of you."

A couple of things, I gathered from the Urban Farmgirl posts on Facebook:

  1. It appears that the new store is called Homestead by Urban Farmgirl.
  2. It also looks like the farm is somewhere in Davis Junction.
  3. There hasn't been an announcement regarding when it will be open to the public.

Regarding the last one, to me, the team at Urban Farmgirl always seems to move quickly.

Without having any prior knowledge of the farm or what type of renovation Gulbrantson plans to do, I would be shocked if Homestead by Urban Farmgirl isn't ready to go by the summer.

Then again, Urban Farmgirl does have other projects going on right now.

Like their shop at 2202 Rural Street or their massive showroom at 716 North Madison Street in Rockford.

Then there's their upcoming MainStreet Market coming in May at the Boone County Fairgrounds in Belvidere.
