Kuma's Corner in Chicago
While there are four Kuma's Corner locations around Chicagoland, even one now in Indiana, it's the OG location on W. Belmont Avenue in Chicago that lands on Mashed.com's list, The Best Diners, Drive-Ins, And Dives Restaurant In Every State.
The burger joint with a love for Heavy Metal music with unforgettable food made national news in 2014 for a special burger that upset the catholic church. It is no longer on the regular menu, but once in a while, Kuma's has been known to bring it back.
The Ghost Burger at Kuma's Corner
The Ghost Burger, which gets its name from Swedish metal band Ghost B.C. is a 10 oz. beef patty, braised goat shoulder, ghost pepper aioli, aged white cheddar cheese, red wine reduction, and topped with an unconsecrated Communion wafer.
The burger was a little upsetting to Catholics (and garnered national headlines), prompting the owners to donate $1,500 to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
