The 91st Academy Awards air Sunday on ABC. I am extra invested in watching this year because we've got a Rockford native who is up for an Oscar. Bing Liu's film 'Minding The Gap' was nominated for Best Documentary on this year's Oscars.

Bing Liu appeared on "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah" Monday night. Mystateline details -

Liu discussed how the subjects of his skateboarding documentary parallel the lives of people in small American towns all across the country.

Check out his appearance here -

The film is based in Rockford, but like Liu and Noah discuss, it's relatable to young people across the country no matter where you come from. If you haven't seen 'Minding The Gap', I highly recommend checking it out before this weekend. That way you can truly appreciate why it's up for an Oscar.

The film is available on Hulu and there is a website you can check out dedicated to everything 'Minding The Gap'. Along with the website here is the IMDB page for the film.
