Next time you stand in Walmart's checkout lane, you might see a big hole in the magazine section.

NBC 5 Chicago reports that Walmart has officially pulled Cosmopolitan magazine from their checkout aisles.

The National Center of Sexual Exploitation shared the decision from Walmart stating:

This is what real change looks like in our #MeToo culture, and NCOSE is proud to work with a major corporation like Walmart to combat sexually exploitative influences in our society. Women, men, and children are bombarded daily with sexually objectifying and explicit materials, not only online, but in the checkout line at the store,” said Dawn Hawkins, Executive Director at the National Center on Sexual Exploitation.

While Cosmo has been removed from the checkout aisle, Walmart will still sell the magazine in the magazine section of the store.

While some people think this is a step forward for the #MeToo movement, by removing the sexualized photos and headlines form the checkouts, many people feel the exact opposite.

That opposite opinion is that Cosmo is a magazine featuring women, made by a large amount of women and thus taking this magazine off the shelves is a step back for the movement, by Walmart deciding what women want or should be able to want to read.

Do you think this was a necessary move?
