If you're of a certain age, you probably have no trouble whatsoever singing out the McDonald's Big Mac jingle from the 1970s.

I knew my wife Amy was the one for me when we were first dating and exchanging information about each other and she proudly told me that she won a free McDonald's t-shirt back in the 70s by walking into the North Main Street location here in Rockford and perfectly singing the Big Mac jingle:

"Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, and (or, on) a sesame-seed bun."

All of her many other attributes suddenly paled in comparison to her mastery of the Big Mac jingle. 30 years later, I still get kind of turned on when she does it. After having two kids, she's fairly judicious about jingle singing around me.

But, as usual, I digress.

What's The World Record For Big Mac Consumption?

I'm glad you asked me that. Otherwise, I'd have to share what happens when Amy sings the Oscar Mayer jingle ("My baloney has a first name, it's O-S-C-A-R...") at home.

The record for Big Mac consumption belongs to fellow Midwesterner and Wisconsinite (he's from Fond du Lac) Donald Gorske, apparently heeding the advice of 1930s movie star Mae West, who famously said "Too much of a good thing is wonderful."

At this writing (Monday morning, August 9th, 2021), Mr. Gorske has eaten 32,340 Big Macs in his lifetime. That total will, and has, gone up since the announcement of his new total over the weekend. The reason it will go up is that Gorske eats those things every single day. He claims to average two Big Macs per day. And, he's been doing that since 1972.

I'm No Doctor, But That Can't Be Good For You

You'd think that, and you'd be right. However, in Donald Gorske's case, his system seems to be handling all those Big Macs just fine. He's 67 years old, stands 6 feet two inches tall, and weighs 185 pounds. His cholesterol count is 165. Even though Big Macs make up 90-95% of his total solid food intake, he does make some allowances.
