Several firefighting crews around the Rockford area are still battling a huge fire inside the CD Source music store in Loves Park.

If your commute takes you anywhere near the intersection of North Second Street and Riverside Boulevard, there may still be barricades blocking traffic in several directions. According to early reports, the fire broke out just after 12:00 am and quickly spread throughout the entire store. As you'll see in the video below from Eyewitness News, very large flames were coming from the rear of the building.

Several fire crews were on the scene from North Park, Rockton, Cherry Valley, and Beloit have been battling the blaze since very early this morning. According to wrex.com, two firefighters suffered minor injuries and no other injuries have been reported at this time.

It will take some time for a total damage estimate to be done but Loves Park Fire Chief, Jerry Wiltfang, had this to say about the damage already witnessed,

It's a total loss.

So many memories were lost inside the store and those beautiful murals on the building that I enjoyed looking at every time I was in the neighborhood. My youngest child has flag football practice nearby and we were just talking about how much we need to take her to CD source, like us, she also loves all the murals on the building and has never seen the inside. My heart is said for those who poured their souls into this business.

This is a developing story so there will be updates, and we will share more information as it becomes available.
