SONIC Drive-In Is Set to Reopen in Loves Park in 2025

If you've driven past the former SONIC Drive-in in Loves Park and wondered if they'll ever reopen, we've got the answer!

In 2023, this location (1602 E. Riverside) closed for remodeling, and now the updated spot will have eight stalls, a drive thru lane, and an outdoor patio area.

Honestly, I was just craving a shake from Sonic.  The whipped cream they add on top is probably the best whip I've ever had.  If you know, you know!

When will they reopen, though?  It's soon.... very soon.

SONIC Drive-In Is Set to Reopen in Loves Park in 2025

Thursday, February 20th, SONIC Drive-In in Loves Park will officially reopen to the public; Friday and Saturday 7pm-midnight and Sunday - Thursday 7am-11pm.

“We’re thrilled to reopen the SONIC in Love’s Park and return to serving the local community,” said Seth Wolken, President of Boom Enterprises. “As Chicago natives, we’re passionate about bringing a great experience to our guests in northern Illinois, and we’re excited to reintroduce the SONIC brand and our iconic menu back to the local Love’s Park community!”

They will have a staff of 30 working this location.

What's the first thing you're getting on the menu?  A Sonic Smasher, tots, mozzarella sticks, and the largest shake they have sounds ideal to me.
