Entertainment That Will Be Returning to Rockford in Phase 4
I don't know about your family, but since Mid-March my family has pretty much been at home coming up with creative ways to have fun. We've done all the yard work. We've completed all the items on our honey-do lists. We've played every game, done every puzzle, watched every movie, we desperately need some new avenues for family fun and thankfully, more options are reopening soon!
As I write this, Rockford is right on track to enter Phase 4 of Illinois' reopening plan on June 26, 2020. Although several attractions will be open once again, all of them will have health guidelines and capacity limits in place. We still need to mindful of social distancing, and be smart about the places we go and the people we see.
That being said, as of June 26th, bowling alleys and movie theaters are allowed to reopen in Illinois, and last I heard, the new Tilted 10/Tilt Studio at the CherryVale Mall plans to officially open their doors to the public on the 26th as well.
Several other Rockford attractions are already open for family fun, even though that fun may look a little different right now. Khlem Arboretum, Discovery Center Museum and Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens are all waiting to entertain you, and summer is a great time to check them out. The Victorian Village at Midway Village Museum is also opening for the season this Thursday, June 18.
Although large festivals, concerts and sports tournaments are not returning anytime soon, Go Rockford told WREX that they are already looking at different scenarios for Stroll on State this year. They say; "the biggest event of the year could be similar to the ones we have seen in the past or entirely different depending on state and local guidelines."
To insure that large events in Rockford aren't an official thing of the past, let's all stay vigilant about social distancing so this severe virus threat will finally vacate our city!
