Free Food Markets Taking Place in Rockford This Summer

Times are tough right now for so many people in the Stateline. Many are out of work and struggling to put food on the table, but thankfully help is available to them.

City First Church was one of the first organizations in Rockford to begin free drive-thru food pickup services for families in need once the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and the amount of people showing up each time they held one has been overwhelming. Now the Northern Illinois Food Bank, Rockford Park District and Community Action are teaming up for a series of free food markets this summer to help meet the great demand.

According to the City of Rockford on Facebook;

 Families with children 18 and under living in their home are invited to shop for free groceries at Family Markets offered three days this summer at Wantz Park, 600 Clifford Ave. in Loves Park.

The Summer Family Markets will take place June 19 and July 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. and August 12 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Families in need will not have to preregister or provide documentation to receive food at these markets. They just need to show up and prepackaged boxes of food will be placed in their trunks by volunteers.
