Free Smoke Alarm Replacement for RPS 205 Families
Right now, in this moment, are you confident that all of your smoke alarms are ready to warn your family if there's a fire? Get your family prepared.
For almost a complete year, we've stayed pretty glued to our homes, or at least home more often than normal. Add in all the remote learning and before you know it, you've been home so much that you're starting to overlook things about your home that are really important.
Remember that time you read that you should change the batteries in all your smoke alarms twice a year when Daylight Savings Time begins and ends? Let's be honest, we only give them our attention when they start chirping for it. If they don't chirp, they're inoperable and that means no warning you and your family of a fire.
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), 3 out of 5 fire deaths happen in homes with inoperable smoke alarms.
The Rockford Fire Department, along with NFPA, want you to go around your house and count all your smoke alarms that aren't working. Once you know that number, call this number, 779-348-7172. The Fire Prevention Division will replace your inoperable smoke alarms, even the ones that are chirping. This service is completely free of charge for all RPS 205 residents living within the city of Rockford.
