Chicago is known for so many different things like skyscrapers, sports, Navy Pier, its festivals (before 2020), hot dogs, and pizza. Obviously this list could go on and on but let's focus on pizza.

A few weeks ago a good friend of mine had a connecting flight at O'Hare. He called me early in the morning suggesting I drive in to grab some lunch with him while practicing social distancing. I obliged and told him to pick a place and I'd meet him there. He chose Giordano's, which is never a bad idea. In hindsight, I wish I had known about this pizza joint described as "better east coast pizza than you can find on the east coast." Only In Your State describes their pie like this,

If you’re craving authentic New York pizza, look no further than a restaurant in Naperville, Illinois that is serving up slices so genuine you just might think they’re shipping water in straight from the Big Apple.

Yes, it's in Naperville - which Google Maps pegs at an hour-and-a-half away from the center of Rockford. This place is Little Pops NY Pizzeria and both the food and the atmosphere look like a deliciously unique experience.

Pre-made pies sit out waiting to be ordered by the slice, and there are tables and booths to make you think you're tucked into an alley in Brooklyn or Manhattan.

The pictures of the food will make your mouth water and your stomach growl. And if you're not a fan a Naperville there is another location in Aurora. Check out Little Pops on Facebook.
