The 33rd annual Head of the Rock Regatta has been canceled due to flood water levels on the Rock River. This will be the second year in a row the event has faced the same fate. Last year's event was also cancelled due to high river levels.

This year’s rowing event was scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 13.

Here’s what the YMCA of Rock River Valley posted on their website regarding the race according to WREX -

It is with great regret that we have to announce the cancellation of the Head of the Rock Regatta this year. The river is closed indefinitely due to flooding with a strong current, and the weather forecast north of us doesn’t look promising. The conditions are not safe for the athletes. We’d like to thank all of the volunteers who have put in many hours of time to prepare for this event. Hoping we’ll be back in 2020!

So here's to less rain in 2020 so we can actually have the event again.
