Illinois’ Favorite Valentine’s Candy Announced & We’re Not Sure It’s ‘Candy’

Forget boxed chocolate and conversation hearts when it comes to Valentine's Day candy.

While those are both solid treats for your special Valentine, there is one candy (really, candy?) that is more popular than any other in Illinois.

According to research done using Google Trends by Zippia:

We defined Valentine’s Day candy as candies that peaked in search volume for the big day. From there, we determined what candy is searched a disproportionately, high amount in each state.

That said, Illinois' favorite Valentine's candy is actually Chocolate Covered Strawberries.

Sure, they're tasty and of course, covered in chocolate, but are they really candy? I'm not so sure.

A quick Google search revealed that no one knows either.

Either way, Chocolate Covered Strawberries are the most popular Valentine's Day candy is in the entire US.

I did, however, find an amazing Chocolate Covered Strawberry recipe that you can make at home.

Personally, I'll take standard candy on Valentine's Day shaped into some form of heart. For example, I'll take all the heart-shaped Reece's Cups.
