Best Way To Celebrate Valentine’s Day Weekend in Rockford

No matter how you spend this very sweet day, just know there's no wrong way.

I’ve been in many relationships, and Valentine’s Day has always been a pretty lowkey celebration for me. Even in my current relationship—almost two years—we don’t really go for the over-the-top gestures. We’re totally on the same page about keeping things simple.

We've agreed to treat this day like any other:  bowling at Cherry Bowl together, grabbing Uncle Nick's in downtown Rockford, and then going home and poppin' open a bottle of wine and watching a movie.

If you're more extroverted, then dinner dates, seeing a movie, hanging with best friends, or even going out of town for a little bar hopping do sound like fun.

But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realize that staying in just feels... better.

With the amount of people getting pulled over lately for speeding, DUIs, and reckless driving, staying home and celebrating Valentine's Day might be ideal this year.

No crowds? No lines? No dressing up in fancy outfits?  Sounds like a dream to me.

So whether you’re out celebrating or snuggling up at home, the best way to enjoy Valentine’s is whatever makes you happy. For me, it just happens to be with no pants on and getting messy in BBQ from Famous Dave's, Ritchie's Smokin' BBQ, or tacos from San Jose or Uncle Nick's.
