Chicago is home to some of the best restaurants on the planet, so it's kind of a surprise a hot dog joint was named the "most iconic" in the state.

Scrolling through to find which restaurant was named Illinois' "most iconic," what I discovered left me a little surprised.

Their choice? Superdawg. Superdawg is located at 6363 North Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago. A hot dog joint? Not just a hot dog joint. They do burgers, fries, and dogs better than nearly everyone else in Illinois.

Superdawg has been a Chicago staple for over 70 years and has been a destination for tourists and locals since the day they served their first "dawg."

MSN says,

Follow the neon signs and papier-mâché hot dogs to this beloved Chicago drive-in. Since 1948, carhops have been delivering greasy grub like “Superdawgs” and “Whoopercheesies” to car windows. Just don’t call these Chicago-style dogs wieners or frankfurters, because they're something entirely different.

I grew up on Superdawg, so I can't dispute the title of "most iconic" What do you think is Rockford's most iconic restaurant? Let us know!
