Illinois Restaurant Serves One of America’s Greatest ‘Once-In-a-Lifetime Meals’
You can eat anywhere in Illinois and have a decent meal.
Then again, you only have one life to live so you might as well make it great.
Thankfully there's a place in Illinois that will apparently help you tick off a whole bunch of bucket list items.
So Eat This, Not That! decided to take a close look at the Best Once-in-a-Lifetime Meal in Every State and Illinois' spot is kind of a surprise.
Seriously, it's not Alinea, Au Cheval, Oriole, or Vito & Nick's Pizzeria. All four of those joints are lauded in different capacities as the type of place you have to eat at least once in your life.
Instead, you need to head to Smyth. Smyth? Yes, Smyth. If it's the first time you've heard of this restaurant, you're not alone.
Smyth in Chicago is a two-Michelin starred restaurant, where the focus is on the bounty of the ocean. Each night the restaurant serves guests a two-and-a-half-hour meal that ranges anywhere from $240 to $265. One reviewer gushed, "What an experience. You don't go here to eat, you will experience flavors, ambiance, service from a top level. You will feel special."
Another reviewer called their meal "truly outstanding." Then again, Smyth was referred to as "Really not worth $1300usd (with wine pairing)" and they "wouldn't ever return. And wouldn't recommend it." by another person.
That price tag might be enough to keep most people away. Then again, Smyth was dubbed as a "once-in-a-lifetime meal." Maybe that means you go there once, and you spend the rest of your life paying for it.
Either way, Smyth is located at 177 North Ada Street in Chicago.
