How Illinois Woman Paid Off All Her Debt Thanks to TikTok
As we near the end of TikTok's life, I'd like to share how this app changed the entire trajectory of my life in the most amazing way possible.
If you ask majority of people what they think about the internet, they'd probably say it's a toxic place where you brain rot and waste time. For me, I see it completely differently.

When I was 15 years old, I told my parents, my friends, my siblings, and everyone I possibly could, that social media would blow up and consume us in ways we never thought possible. After twelve years, we're finally seeing the impact the digital world truly has on us as a society.
TikTok has been an incredibly popular app used for entertainment, growing a following, making money, being a content creator, and building a community. I've used it for every single one of those things, so I'd hate to see this ban actually happen.
In 2023, I made a TikTok (on a whim) sharing how I'd been financially struggling, living off $25 in my bank account until my next paycheck, sleeping and eating ramen to not go negative in my bank account. It instantly went viral!
Then, a random company found my video and asked me to make ads for them. Little did I know, the amount of money I was about to make was going to change my entire life because of one random video I posted.
After creating ads, filming commercials, and being given these unique opportunities, all my debt was paid off. I no longer was living paycheck-to-paycheck, and I could afford more than just cups of ramen.
This is how much of an impact TikTok made on my life, so you can only imagine how many other lives have been changed simply by going viral, too.
If TikTok was never created, I wouldn't be debt-free right now. I'd still be just barely getting by and stressing to no end. If this app does get banned on January 19th, I wanted to share how its platform opened so many doors for me and others alike.
I also love bed rotting while scrolling TikTok a few times a week, so not being able to do that will suck. That's a fact!
