The Cold War ended many years ago but the threat of nuclear war is still there with many cities targeted by the enemies of the United States including several in Wisconsin.

Memories Of The Cold War

I remember growing up during the Cold War. It was a pretty scary time. The world's two major superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union hated each other. It felt like they could go to war at any time. That was a huge problem because both countries were heavily armed with nuclear weapons which would destroy life as we know it. Luckily, the government changed in Russia and the relationship became less tense.

According to history.com,

The Cold War was a period of geopolitical tension marked by competition and confrontation between communist nations led by the Soviet Union and Western democracies including the United States.

According to americanhistory.si.edu,

During 1989 and 1990, the Berlin Wall came down, borders opened, and free elections ousted Communist regimes everywhere in Eastern Europe. In late 1991 the Soviet Union itself dissolved into its component republics. With stunning speed, the Iron Curtain was lifted and the Cold War came to an end.

Threat Of World War III

Things have become very tense once again. There's fighting throughout the world. The United States and Russia aren't getting along very well. The fear of World War III and a nuclear attack is on the minds of many American citizens. There's a reason to be frightened because my cities are targeted by bombs.

Wisconsin Cities Targeted During Nuclear Attack

Even though Wisconsin doesn't seem like a state that would be targeted for a nuclear attack, it actually is. In fact, several cities are included. FEMA has created a list.

What once housed 1 screen and could hold 700 cars now resembles a scene straight from an end-of-the-world movie.
