Rockford Residents Share Businesses They’d Rather See Than Another Chipotle

A new Chipotle restaurant opened on East State Street in Rockford today (March 4), prompting many residents to speak up about what they would like to see open in the city.

Well, it’s official. The Rockford-area's  fourth Chipotle Mexican Grill  has opened its doors at State Street Square near Flow Supreme Air Sports, and while I will absolutely still be in line for my usual chicken burrito bowl, I think we can all agree on one thing…

Rockford is officially fully stocked on burritos.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Chipotle. It has saved me on busy mom nights more times than I can count, but sometimes a girl needs a little more variety to choose from, and I'm not the only Rockford-area resident that feels that way.

Rockford Reacts to New Chipotle Location

Before I share some opinions from residents I need to point out what makes this new Chipotle restaurant in Rockford special: it has a "Chipotlane" pick up drive-thru!

Every time my family orders Chipotle for pickup, my husband and I always argue about who has to put on decent pants and go in to get it...now we won't have to!

When Eyewitness News shared a story about Rockford's newest Chipotle location opening, commenters had lots of thoughts about what this city really needs instead of another Chipotle.

If the Rockford powers that be are paying attention to this article, here are five businesses that residents really want to see open in this city:

1. White Castle
2. Trader Joe's
3. Whole Foods
4. Moe's Southwest Grill
5. Waffle House

Listen, I will happily continue funding Chipotle's empire, but Rockford is growing, families are busy, and we’ve got room on our plates (literally) for more variety.

I guess we'll just have to keep wishing for something brand new to come to our city soon.
