Victory for Rockford Residents: Auburn Roundabout Car Wash Proposal Cancelled
Do you travel often through Rockford's North End area, specifically the Auburn and N. Main roundabout? You've probably seen a lot of signs that look like this:
I drive through the Auburn and North Main roundabout in Rockford twice a day, 5 days a week on my way to and from work. When I first heard someone wants to build a car wash on the empty grassy area on the northwest side of the roundabout, I immediately thought: you have got to be kidding me!

It's been 12 years since this roundabout was constructed, and people still can't figure out how to drive through it properly. The last thing that area needs is more chaos, and thankfully there won't be any time soon!
Car Wash Proposal Has Been Withdrawn

More Auburn Roundabout Drama
Complaining about roundabouts seems to be the favorite pastime for many Rockfordians, so I apologize in advance for adding more fuel to the fire. Here's an important FYI for frequent Auburn travelers: the roundabout will be closed to traffic on Sunday, October 26 and will reopen at 6 a.m. on Monday, October 27. Hopefully I remember to take a detour Monday morning when I drive to work.
