One of the best things about being the parent of an 18-year-old is- the silence. My son is never home; he's either at school, working or doing something for school. The only time I ever hear from him is if he's hungry or needs money; which isn't very often because he has his own money and typically eats at work.

Now, I know what you're thinking- that's so unfair. And it is, I know this; because for those of you who are parents to small children, silence means something completely different: it usually, almost definitely, means your kids are up to something and it's typically no good.

What was the worst thing you ever caught your kids doing after that long moment of suspicious silence?
