For those of us who can't decide between pizza and Italian beef, Lou Malnati's is making the decision that much easier.

That's because they just mashed up two of the most legendary Chicago foods and called it a Beef-Za.

Collaborating with Food Network personality Jeff Mauro, the Beef-Za is essentially Italian beef and deep-dish pizza.

The toppings on this behemoth include:

  • Italian beef
  • Giardineiera + pepper relish
  • Lou's sausage
  • Buttercrust base

Considering it's Italian Beef Month, May is the perfect time to get your Beef-Za on.

That said, I don't believe there's gonna be any new converts when it comes to deep-dish pizza.

Celebrate Italian Beef Month This May

It's one of those things that you either grew up on and love to this day, or you never quite got, and, to be real, I'm OK with that. It's something that is unique to Chicago, and trust, there are other cities across America that try their hand at deep-dish pizza and fail miserably.

If you want real deep dish, you come to Illinois, Chicago in particular. If you want real Italian beef, a sandwich so popular that lawmakers are trying to make it the official state sandwich, you come to the Land of Lincoln.

If you want them both together, you go to Lou Malnati's and order the Beef-Za.

There are Lou's locations all over the place, but here in Rockford, to get your pie on, go to 6240 Mulford Village Drive.
