One of my favorite Rockford restaurants is now closed for the rest of 2020.

When I drove past Lydia's Cafe, 1710 Rural Street in Rockford, just a few days ago, I noticed that their sign was taken down.

In 2020, we have lost many great local businesses in town and all over the US, so my first thought was "Oh no, Lydia's closed!"

After a bit of searching around, I found on the Lydia's Facebook this:

That's not very promising but according to WREX, Lydia's is coming back in 2021, saying "The business plans to open up again after the first of the year with hopes that a new year brings better fortune to everyone."

If you haven't been to Lydia's Cafe before, let me tell you, you're missing out. They have one of the most inventive menus in town and serve up favorites to their customers named after famous Rockford sights like The Coronado, Klehm Arboretum, and The Symbol.

While we count down the days to 2021, check out the Lydia's menu and let your mouth water.
