Popular Illinois Restaurant Called a ‘Diamond in the Rough’ Suddenly Closes

This is a bummer. A restaurant that my wife and I enjoyed suddenly shuttered without much mention.

I don't think I will be the only one disappointed by the sudden closure either.

RECENTLY CLOSED BUT WELL-LOVED

Deidra W. on Yelp called the restaurant a "Diamond in the rough....... little authentic Mexican restaurant located in an older building on a corner. Most of the information posted was in Spanish. I had the steak tacos and a side of guacamole and my spouse had a beef burrito. Both meals were fantastic. Would eat here again."

Unfortunately, I don't think Deidra will be eating there again, because the windows are papered up and it appears to have been cleared out.

Sigh, Mi Ranchito has officially closed.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MI RANCHITO?

Strangely, the Yelp account or their website, MiRanchitoRockford.com is still functional. There is no mention of closure, but you must believe the restaurant has shuttered.

While I and countless others will surely miss the eatery some probably won't including Ryan M. who called the place "filthy" and Stuart Ryan W. who added "I know this place has supporters based on the genuine reviews, but my impression was very 'one star'"

Regardless, many folks had plenty of great meals at Mi Ranchito. The restaurant was located at 2019 South Main Street in Rockford.
